Building Regulations

Do I Require Planning Permission?

Not all properties require planning permission.

You may have ‘permitted development’ rights enabling you to increase the volume of your roof space by 70m3 to a semi-detached or detached house or 50m3 to the volume of a terraced house. This rule applies to the ‘original’ house. You may not have made additions to your home but the previous owners may have. If this is the case you will have to apply for planning permission.

If your home is listed or situated in a conservation area listed building consent and planning permission may also be required.

If you are planning to build within 3m of a boundary you must speak to your neighbour about a Party Wall Agreement.

Trim Loft Conversions will advise you in all of these areas and will liaise with your Local Authority. If permission is required our architect can supply drawings.

Do I Require Building Regulations?

Even if planning permission is not required you will still need to obtain Building Regulations. Trim Loft Conversions will advise you and will liaise with your Local Authority.
